We stopped in a little pueblo that specializes in making the fantastic creatures called alebrijes. These are hand made by locals from a local wood. I have heard that the trees are becoming scarce because so many are being cut down to be turned into alebrije. On the other hand, it does give the locals a source of income. I bought some earrings for both girls and myself. There is no way we could carry anything larger!
