Name: House of Cortez
Location: La Antigua, Veracruz
Notes:: Although this building has always been referred to as the House of Cortes, it was never.a house and Cortes was long gone by the time it was built. Instead it was built as A storehouse for all the goods and materials collected off the land and from the inhabitants. Here they were catalogued and stored until they could be transported by ship back to Spain by way of the nearby river leading to the gulf.
The building was abandoned when larger, better situated warehouses were built in Veracruz.
The buildings were badly damaged by 2 hurricanes, the last one being in 2010.
