Notes: We left Freedom Shores at about 10am and headed for Campeche only a couple of hours away. I had picked out 3 different hotels to try when we arrived. The first, Hotel Castelmar, was one we had stayed at before. It is a colonial building with a pool. Unfortunately they didn’t have rooms with a window available. We moved on to our second choice another Hotel Baluarte. This hotel was not open. I think they must have been doing major renovations. So we ended up at my 3rd pick, Hotel Lopez Campeche another colonial facade, but completely rebuilt behind it. Our room has a big window, nice bathroom and a soft bed.
As soon as we showered we headed out for food. There was a street of nothing but restaurant s with tables down the middle of the promenade. We stopped at the very first one and had their special.
