Gulf Coast trip
February 18
7:22 PM

Name: Sunday Evening in the Zocalo
Location: Valladolid, Yucatan
Notes: We ate dinner in the outdoor cafe on the main square while we listened to a live band play dance music. We even danced a few chacha steps ourselves before we ate.
Sunday is always busy in the main squares of most towns in Mexico and this one was no different. Parents play with their small children, following toddlers around as they explore their world. It is unusual to see strollers here, if the kid can walk he walks. If he can’t one of his parents or siblings carries them.
The teens are in the square too- Young couples and wannabe couples enjoying the street food, using the internet or necking in dark corners.
After dinner we took the bike out to the exconvent St. Bernardino to watch the videomapping display. This is projected on the outer walls of the convent and tells the history of Valladolid. Not the best I’ve seen in Mexico unfortunately.
