Gulf Coast trip
February 23
12:11 PM

Location: Progreso, Yucatan
Notes: Speranza and Dave return from their expedition to Calacmal tomorrow so this is our last full day of being responsible for their beautiful home.
This has been a most pleasant housesit experience since the weather has been outstanding, the house easy to care for (no animals), we’ve had the use of a beautiful pool and hammocks under a palapa.
Our chores have been to keep the house tidy, monitor the chemicals in the pool and to vaccuum it occasionally, and water the plants.
We’ve had the opportunity to go out each day to explore Progreso. We’ve watched the Carnival parades and enjoyed eating in its many wonderful restaurants.
Our only bad choice was going out for sushi. We found this little restaurant called Sushi’ngone and we should have went. We both ended up with food poisoning – Bill worse than me. We were sick for two full days! We think it was the salmon on one of the rolls. I only ate one piece and Bill ate the rest.
The pity is we had just bought the groceries for meals to make at home but could even prepare let alone eat them. I hope Speranza can use them since we cannot take them with us on the bike.
Sunday morning we leave here and head to Merida where we have enroled in Spanish school for 4 weeks and will stay at a homestay with a Mexican family.
