Notes: I chose this campground because it was at the end of a dead end street and had its own water access. We opted to pitch our tent. They had a tent zone that was covered with a canvass roof where there were a whole lot of tents already set up. We learned that the facility rents them out like rooms. This is common in Mexico. I guess most people dont have camping gear of their own.
Once we were set up, we walked into town for some food. The restaurant was right across from a beautiful public balenario. It was packed! There had to have been 15 full sized busses parked along the street and cars galore. I guess it was the last day of the semana santa holiday here in Mexico.
When we got back to the campground we booked a catamaran tour for tomorrow morning and went for a swim in the beautiful crystal clear lake. The water is that aquamarine colour of the ocean yet it is fresh water. I think it is because of the white sand and clay of the bottom. Bill wanted to take out a kayak but it was already 4:30pm and I was tired and had the beginnings of a migraine. I went and laid down instead.
Nightime was a horror. The temperature did not cool down much and our tent was stifling. In the middle of the night I felt I couldn’t breathe so I unzipped the screen near my head. Unfortunately there were lots of mosquitoes…we got bitten!
Breakfast was included in the price so we went up to the restaurant to get it at 8am. We waited for nearly an hour before we realized that we had to tell the girl at the desk that we wanted breakfast and how we wanted our eggs. Worse than being hungry, we had no coffee until our meal arrived. It was very good and included scrambled eggs, refried beans, tortillas, juice, fruit and coffee.
Unfortunately they couldnt get enough people to run the tour so we rented a kayak for an hour to get out onto the lake. It was very windy this morning, so not great for kayaking
We had fun anyway and afterwards we dismantled our camp, ate some lunch and hit the road.
