Food stop on hwy 57 in the middle of nowhere. We ordered the meal of the day which consisted of a stew, rice and a flauta. A bit too spicy for me.

Notes: The roads from Sabinas to Concepción de Oro (where we had lunch ) have what I call the magic third lane. It is a bit unnerving at first but after a while it makes perfect sense. This is a two lane road with paved shoulders that are about half as wide as a lane. When you see that the person behind you wants to pass you pull over onto the shoulder to let him go. This means he can pass even when there is oncoming traffic because they will also move to the shoulder on their side. Big lumbering trucks pretty much stick to the shoulder so it is very easy to pass them.

This was a much better choice of hotel than I was expecting. Our room was in an interior courtyard with tables outside. We had no airconditoner but a big overhead fan and an open window with a screen. The room smelled of fresh air and the bed was very comfortable. We both had cool showers that refreshed. Very pleasant stay

Notes: The restaurant at our hotel seemed to be as good as any choice in the area. Prices were good and the food turned out to be very good too. Bill had tacos with mole and a beer while I enjoyed chicken soup with vegetables and a naranjada. Both were delicious.
