We paid a cuota as we entered the state of Veracruz but the road immediately got worse than the one we left in Oaxaca state. We turned onto the free road and headed for the city of Veracruz. This area is used for growing bananas, sugar cane, pineapples, melons and for grazing cattle. We stopped for a snack at a restaurant called La Correlata along the road. It had several horse heads mounted on the wall the same way people mount deer and moose. I wonder if they are someone’s trophys. I enjoyed a jugo verde while Bill had coffee.
