10:24am was when we were back on the road after crossing from Nicaragua to Costa Rica.As soon as we arrived at the border, a young man attached himself to us and proceeded to act as our guide through the paperwork jungle that is Nicaragua. I stayed with the bike except to pass through immigration.Bill said afterward that his guide was pretty helpful because the process is not at all obvious. It ended up costing 40US for the guide because he insisted he had to pay a bribe to the aduana so she didn’t take apart all of our luggage as she had been doing to other travellers in cars. Who knows if she would have bothered to search us, but if she did, it would have taken a lot longer than the hour and a half we spent at this border crossing. The buildings are fairly new at this crossing. They all had airconditioning so we weren’t as uncomfortable as we were crossing from Honduras to Guatemala. That said, this was the most disorganized one with really pointless ‘busy-work’. Maybe they do it so that guys can make a good living being guides to travellers. variable clouds, occasional rain 27″

They served pan-fried fish, rice, beans, mashed potatoes, several different kinds of meat, and salads. Bill and I both opted for the fish and salads. Very enjoyable for not too much money.
