We are staying another full day on the island. It rained in the night and this morning it has stopped raining but there’s still a lot of cloud about. There is snorkeling equipment on the ship and a shallow reef a short swim away. Also our captain says we can take a tour to an indigenous village. I think we’ll go.We all spent a lot of time in the water today. Most of the 20 somethings spent hours swinging from a rope tied to the crossbeam of the ship’ into the water. They were pretty hesitant at first’ but learned better techniques as time went on.Some of us went to the Kuna fishing village. The people were friendly enough and the children vied to have their picture taken. Unfortunately the guys who boated us over didn’t take any time to tell us anything about their way of life. The boat ride was an experience in itself. It was a homemade dugout made of a single tree trunk with a thoroughly modern outboard motor. It sat very low to the water so with every wave the people in the bow got soaked and the person in the stern got to bail! (me cloudy 28
