We arrived in Popayan quite early, so checked in at a hostel and went in search of food. The staff had given us a map and it showed a Mexican restaurant, so we made our way through very busy streets to the address. Closed. Oh well. We ended up at an Italian restaurant instead. This city is another white colonial city like La Mesa but more updated. This probably because the city was almost levelled by an earthquake in the 1980s.It has a nice central square but instead of restaurants inhabiting the buildings on the square, there are banks. I have never seen so many banks in one place outside of Bay St. in Toronto. Therefore there are no pretty little sidewalk cafes here. Calle 4 #2-1 a 2-107 Popay?
