Stopped for a coffee after a very rainy ride from 1900mts to about 800mts. We’re now in the Amazon! Coffee was instant!It wasn’t long before we headed back up into the mountains. Sometimes you can see startling things at the side of the road. Just a few meters up onto a hillside a couple of people were butchering a cow. It was raining hard so they had fashioned a makeshift tent with poles and a plastic sheet. They had the skinned cow under this and they were proceeding to cut it up.I spent some time thinking about why anyone would do this and decided that the animal had probably been hit by a vehicle on the road and had managed to get a little way up the hill before falling. It was too injured to get it to a more appropriate location and could not survive it’s injuries. So it got killed and butchered on the spot. Can’t waste good meat.
