What a fantastic stay! We pulled into Ba??os in the rain, having ridden from Baeza totally in the rain. This hostel cost us 20us for a private room with a balcony and the best hot shower we’ve had in a long time.We booked a 90 minute massage for later and went out to explore the town and find lunch. Lunch was not great. We had the toughest chicken I’ve ever tried to eat. Instead of frying it they should have stewed it.I finally found a raincoat. Although it says Northface on its logo, I kinda doubt it is authentic. It was made in Ecuador. I also have wanted a new bathing suit and was able to find a suitable one here.At 6:30 we went for our massages. They do two people at a time, I think for safety reasons. We booked Sport massages so they did deep tissue work on our shoulders but pretty much a relaxing massage for everything else. There was some aroma therapy (Bill liked, I didnt) and a foot scrub.Afterwards we went out for a snack and then back to our room.In the morning we went to the hotsprings baths.Stupid us, we both tried to use the coin operated gates to get in but discovered they were not being used. We were supposed to pay at the window off to the left. Luckily I had brought my change purse and was able to scrape together another 4.00.There were several pools, one ice cold, one comfortably warm and one REALLY hot. We tried them all.The surroundings were gorgeous, huge green hills with puffs of white clouds hovering in various places. The pools are nestled on a hillside where a beautiful waterfall cascades endlessly. At night it is lit up and most of the people choose evening to use the baths. Partly cloudy 13
