Hostel KatyIlave, Peru A big problem in this town are the high curbs. Even when a hostel has parking, and most did, it required getting over a 12 inch curb to get into the parking space. We went to 3 or 4 before finding one with only a 6 inch curb. With the help of a chunk of concrete Bill was able to get the bike in.We are on the top floor of the hostel overlooking the indigenous market. Many stalls are selling the traditional skirts and blouses of the area. The room is basic but clean and they have wifi. The altitude here is around 3900 mts so you can imagine how we felt after lugging our stuff up three flights of stairs. Whoever built the place didn’t bother to make the stair risers an even height which added to the challenge.Below our room is the market where people make and sell the indigenous ladies skirts and blouses. Each store along the street spills out onto the street with a series of tarps over them to keep out the sun and rain. Only pedestrians and tuk tuks can get along them.
