Name:Monte Verde Hotel
Location: Chachalacas, Veracruz
Notes: Another long day on the road. We decided we were going to find a warm place to stay for a day or two since we are well ahead of schedule for our first house sit. I picked a hotel on this beach. Probably we should have stopped a couple of hours earlier because we followed the coast for a long time and passed many hotels that were in the sunshine. We had driven into clouds about a half hour before arriving at.our destination and they don’t look like they are going away.
Our room is small with the ubiquitous hard double bed and flat pillows and at double the price of last night. Location, location, location. At least there is wifi.
There are lots of small eateries along the beach. All of them empty of patrons. How do they stay in business during the off season? We picked the closest one. It is run by an indigenous family that Bill found to be kind of surly. I think it is just a reserved culture. Anyway they made terrific a terrific fish dinner for me. Bill thought his octopus, while tasty, was a little tough.
We went for a walk on the beach but the sand is hard to walk in so we took to the road to put in a few kilometres before heading back to our room.
