Rating: 5.0

Name: La Casa de los Lotos
Location: Baca, Yucatan
Notes: It seems incongruous to find a Thai ”temple” in a pueblita (tiny village) in Mexico but here it is in Baca. Although the manmade network of ponds of water lilies was not functioning while we were there, you could see how it was going to work once they fixed whatever was wrong with it. (Men were scooping out the soil from each of the cells)
There is a water pump windmill that feeds water through all of the ponds, each with different kinds of water plants including lotuses, lilies, paprus and other tropical water plants. Today these are housed in large pots set along the perimeters of the walkways.
In addition to the water garden there is also a koi pond and a cockatiel aviary.
The food was pricey but VERY good! Well worth the trip for the experience.
