Gulf Coast trip
Rating: 3.0
March 10
1:06 PM

Location: Rio Largato, Yucatan
Notes: We got up at our usual time around 7am and went out in search of coffee. Found it at the same restaurant we ate a snack at yesterday. Our posada hosts had a nice breakfast ready for us at 8am. There was fruit, toast and scrambled eggs plus more coffee.
Right after breakfast we headed out for our river tour.
We were supposed to see flamingos, not just a dozen or so, there should have been thousands. How many did we see? Notta one! But we did see crocodiles and other water birds. And we covered ourselves in white mud and washed it off later in the gulf.
There is a salt production facility on the river. They have a series of ponds that concentrate the salt as the water moves through. The ponds with the highest concentration are very pink!
