My Journey

Location: Catazajá, Chiapas
Notes: Gotta love small town hotels. This one we got a double bed, no toilet seat but lots of water pressure in the shower and secure parking for the bike among the stored livingroom furniture. The overhead fan only works on high speed! Still the bed seems okay and the room is clean.
We went for a walk to the malecon and had a beer on an upper patio. The young server was very personable and stood talking to us for quite a while
When we were done we strolled over to meet a young couple who have driven their sprinter RV all the way from Argentina. We stood and talked for nearly an hour and watched the clouds begin to build up. Finally we said goodbye and were nearly half way back to our hotel when I realised I had forgotten my hat back at the restaurant. So we returned to get it and decided to share a bowl of fish soup. While we ate, the clouds darkened more and suddenly the sky opened up like a dam had burst. Strong gusts of wind blew the rain right at us and we had to move back into the restaurant. Lightening flashed, thunder rolled and the lights wwnt out for a few minutes. The rain beat like anything on the tin roof so you couldnt hear anything else except the thunder. It went on like that for about 20 minutes but finally it began to slow down. We decided to brave a wet walk back to the hotel. I had to laugh because it is not the first time that this has happened- and in the same general geographical area too!
We were soaked by the time we arrived at our hotel.
