Location: San Miguel de Allende

Entrance Fee: 39 pesos per person
Notes:  You cannot visit this site in your own vehicle or by yourself. There is a visitor center where you can hire a guide who will walk you the 2kms to the ruins. These ruins are actually surrounded by private property – only the ruins themselves arepublicly owned.
The guide takes the opportunity afforded by the walk to tell you something about the landscape and the Otomi people who used to live here.
This archaeological site has only been open to the public since 2011 and not too many people know about it yet. I, like many others, didn’t realize there were pyramids built this far north in Mexico.
Like the Mayans, the Otomis built pyramids as a way to track the planets, sun and moon. More information is available on Wikipedia.
