Back to Merida – The Journey begins…again!

Notes: We are headed back to Merida, Mexico to finish the dental work we had started last fall.  Back then the dental surgeon had installed implants where my new front teeth are going to go and Bill also had an implant for a back molar.  We are now ready to get our new teeth!

The morning was cloudy, foggy and cool as we headed to say goodbye to my dad then we hit the road headed for the 401 and our next stop in Toronto for lunch with Amanda and Parker. The traffic was light and we were actually ahead of schedule.

Title: Lunch at El Trompo
Notes: We had lunch at a great little restaurant in Chinatown that Manda recommended. They served very authentic charros and tacos AL pastor. The only difference from Mexico was the price!  Ouch!  It was good to see our daughter and boyfriend, especially since she will be headed to France before we get home from Merida.  We are sure a family on the move.

Title: Hwy 401 toward Detroit border
Notes: The weather has remained cool and overcast as we tried to make some time on the highway. However there were 3 slowdowns caused by accidents in the east bound lanes. Westbound only slowed at these places- eastbound was stopped dead behind the accidents and the traffic jams went on for many kilometers.
The sun finally made a breakthrough just past London and the temperature climbed to 16C and I was able to turn off my heated jacket. The Plains east of Windsor were really windy though. It was almost as bad as Argentina!
Weather: Windy
Temperature: 16C
Event: Gas stop
Name: Triangle
Cost: $24.60CA

Accommodations

Title: First night’s rest
Notes: We ended up in Bowling Green at a rather expensive Best Western. It seems there is a choice between modestly priced scuzzholes or expensive business accommodation. Nice big room with kitchenette including a stove!
We ended up eating our easter dinner at a Waffle house though. I had a waffle and bacon, Bill had a Texas bacon melt and grits. Not many restaurants open on easter Sunday.
Weather: Clear
Temperature: 16C
Event: Accommodation
Name: Best Western Falcon Plaza
Cost: $98.US
