On the Backroads  9:17 AM
Weather: Overcast
Temperature: 21C
Notes: After 3 days of interstate driving, we decided to continue on secondary roads. The first thing we noticed was a dearth of transport trucks. What a blessing.  The roads seem so quiet and empty without them and there are more small villages at many crossroads.
It is full on summer in North of Texas .

Eats
Name: Cotton Patch Restaurant

We were looking for southern food, hopefully bbq but instead Bill had chicken fried steak and I had chicken tenders. It was OK but I think I’ve had my fill of deep fried everything. Love the unsweetened iced tea though.

Weather: Stormy
Temperature: 18C
Title: Refuge from the storm
Notes: We drove for several hours through off and on rain but as we approached Copperas Cove the sky opened up, Thunder and lightning the whole nine yards. No camping for us tonight.  The best we could do was a highway motel but considering the weather we couldn’t be too picky. We were drenched by the time we checked into our room.

Eats

Dinner was at a Korean restaurant called Seoul Garden. I had bibin bob- a big bowl of rice with lots of shaved veggies, seasoned beef and a fried egg. Bill had #47 bulgogi beef. Lots of meat! It was good although I thought the egg tasted funny and didn’t finish it.  $35.00
