Mexico Today!
7:40 AM

Weather: Sunny

Notes: Off to a good start with cool temperature but a bright blue sky.  We aren’t far from the border here and I’m looking forward to warmer temperatures.

On the Road, 9:49 AM

Weather: Sunny
Temperature: 19C

Notes: This route took us through peach country. However, like Apple country in Ontario, the area is turning to vinyards for their fortune. Big fancy buildings all have wine tasting opportunities but their grapevines are all very young. I assume they are buying their juice from somewhere else right now.
The secondary roads are in good shape and take us through small towns. A bit slower than the interstate but much nicer!
Event: Gas stop
Name: Chevron
Cost: 16.85us

Eats, 11:45 AM

Weather: Sunny
Temperature: 26C
Lunch stop Uvalde, Texas

Name: Townhouse Restaurant
Cost: 25.00us
Notes: This is the last meal we will have in the USA so we decided on burgers since they aren’t great in Mexico. This restaurant is known for its buffet and even at 11:30 am it is full of seniors doing all you can eat.  Bill’s nose is white from the zinc oxide he puts on it to keep it from getting sunburned.  Great look eh?

On the Border, 1:34 PM
Weather: Sunny
Temperature: 31C
Event: Gas stop
Name: Minimart (Shell), Eagles’ Pass
Cost: 13.94us

Notes: Eagle Pass is growing in leaps and bounds. Quite different since the last time we came through. More businesses, more houses. Hot place though.  I’m beginning to regret my wish for warmer weather!

Border Crossing, 1:53 PM
Title: US to Mexico

On the US side we had stop and pay $5.00 to cross the bridge. On the Mexico side our picture was automatically taken as we drove through the control point. No human asked us anything.  We are now in beautiful Mexico.

Border control, Allende, 2:40 PM
Notes: Although there is nothing that tells a first timer they have to stop there, there is an immigration office on the highway in Allende. It is an old, decrepit building that seems to be in worse shape every time we pass through. Our passports were checked, tourist visas bought and the bike duly imported. Finished at 3:17 pm.

Accommodations, 4:18 PM
Weather: Sunny
Temperature: 35C
Notes: We got as far as Sabinas, Couhila and checked into this strange little hotel with half the rooms used for the hotel and the other half housing businesses.
Our room is quite large and smells strongly of the cleaner used for the floors. We each had a shower- lots of water and warm- but then the drains started to stink. I put the shower mat over the drain and closed the bathroom door.

I’m having problems with my Note 4 phone. It stopped reliably charging last night. I have tried adjusting the little flap in the charging port and now it will charge with at least one cable, however now the GPS and cell connection seem sporadic. I don’t know if there is some damage inside the charging port that is causing this. We shall see…

Spent 84mx on beer & ice cream bars at Oxxo
Now sitting on a bench outside the office to access the wifi.
