Eats, 7:06 AM

Notes: Sometimes being early risers is a detriment. Breakfast is at 8:00 AM at the hotel and before then there is no access to food or more important, coffe.  So we went down to the market to find coffee. We had to try several stalls but finally found this one serving coffee, pancakes and tamales.
We ate, but since there was no protein to speak of in our breakfast, we stopped at the hotel free buffet for some eggs before getting ready to leave.

Gassing up, 10:58 AM
Weather: Sunny
Temperature: 26C
Name: Pemex
Cost: 265mx

Notes: From Jalpan to Tlaxaco we will be travelling along a route we have been on several times before albeit in the opposite direction. We want to pick up the toll road about half way there. The road takes us through the mountains lots of twisty turnies!

The climate changes drastically depending on what side of the mountain you are on. Green forest on one side.

Semi desert on the other.

Gassing up, 1:47 PM
Name: Pemex
Cost: 200mx
Notes: We were hungry and hadn’t seen any place to eat (unusual for Mexico!) so we bought a disgusting sandwich at the Oxxo and some milk.  I choked down a couple of bites and drank the milk.  Bill had the rest.  42mx

The road through the mountains was as great as we remembered but we took a wrong turn trying to follow my gps that was not working very well. Ended up on horrible road that might have eventually got us there but maybe not all in one piece. Saw interesting sights along the way though-like these “cowboys”.

Made it out to the autopista and travelled the toll road to Tlaxcala.

Accommodations, Tlaxcala, 4:29 PM
Weather: Overcast
Temperature: 26C
Name: Mintzin Hotel, Tlaxcala
Cost: 750mx

Notes:  We really like these ‘motel’ type hotels because the courtyard allows us to make our coffee in the morning and even to cook breakfast if we happen to have food on hand.  This was a nice one.

Notes: We had dinner on the main plaza. It’s very early but I only had a bite of Bill’s disgusting sandwich and a milk earlier.  I ordered spaghetti and a lemonade at this very festive looking stand and Bill had rabbit adobo and beer.

An old lady came by begging and Bill gave her a few pesos, then she ended up selling us a small bag of ground coffee.
Cost: 340 + 60 for coffee.
