First border, 10:44 a.m.

Location:  S.A – Namibia

Weather: Clear  Temp: 23C

Notes:  At 10:45 am we arrived at the border. A border personnel marked down our plate number and another number. This is for immigration.
We were first at the wicket and done in moments, then I went out to the bikes and Bill proceeded to customs to export the bike.
The terrain we just drove through went from dry chaparral to desert with what I call rubble mountains. These are huge piles of boulders. I can only imagine the soft sandstone has worn down leaving the harder boulders behind.
11:10am we have checked out of S.A. Onward to Namibia immigration.

Cost: 200zar

Notes:  We are now cleared to enter Namibia and Bill is in paying the road tax.  Next stop customs for importing the bike. We have to wait for our support truck driver to go first. Luckily the parking is covered so a bit cooler than standing in the hot sun.
Bill is back we are done. 12:16pm

Cost: 200zar road tax

Norotshama River Resort 12:54 p.m.

Location:  Aussenkehr,  Namibia

Weather:  Clear  Temp: 34C

Notes:We arrived about an hour after our last gas stop. The terrain had become desert with rubbley, low mountains on either side of the road.

The Orange river separates S.A. and Namibia and we are now on the Namibia side. There is only desert on the right side of the road, but on the left there are acres and acres of vineyards all irrigated with river water.
The resort is beautiful, right on the banks of the river.

We settled into our room and went to the restaurant outdoor seating where Bayne and Hugo prepared a picnic lunch of make-your-own sandwiches, guacamole, salad and potato chips.
After lunch Bill and I went back to our cabin where Bill sat outside and I had a little snooze. I washed our riding underwear and hung them outside to dry, then we went for a dip in the very cold-water pool. That sure cooled us off.
We ate dinner at 7pm and watched the beautiful sunset over the river. I had lasagne and Bill had schnitzel.
