Name: Kabah
Location: Yucatan, Mexico
Entrance Fee:: 55 per person
Notes: This site is right on the main road so there is no long walk to visit the ruins. They are impressive! The main building is referred to as a palace. We walked around the buildings, marvelling at how many people must have worked their whole lives on it. Indeed, since it took hundreds of years to complete several renovations, their children’s children must have also worked on it.
Thete are still many buildings in process of being reconstructed. Many of the stones have been sorted and sit on the ground waiting to be replaced on the building.
The road actually runs down the middle of the original complex but on the other side of the road the only structure rebuilt is an arch. The other buildings are still just huge piles of rock covered in trees.
