Morning Briefing 8:40 a.m.
Weather: Partly cloudy Temp: 21C
Notes: Our get away time is 9:00am this morning. We have been advised that the speed limit is 80kms and strictly enforced. Also the pavement is full of potholes.
I walked out to the gas station to avoid having to endure the sand driveway out of the hotel. Everyone gassed up and then we were back on our way.

On the Road, 11:09 a.m.
Weather: Clear Temp: 26C
Notes: Rest stop. We have been travelling through dry farm land, often having to dodge goats and cows as they cross the road. As we were leaving town we saw a group of baboons running across the road too.
We had to stop to fumigate our boots and tires before we crossed into the Xai Pan Game Reserve. As soon as we were in the reserve it was amazing how much vegetation was on each side of the road. The wild animals are not as plentiful as the domestic ones. We saw some giraffes and ostriches. The ostriches ran along with us as usual. Wonder why they do that?
The road in places was indeed full of patches and potholes but a substantial portion of it has been repaved.

Arrival Planet Boabab, 12:33 p.m.
Location: Planet Baobab, Botswana
Weather: Clear Temp: 29C
Notes: Pretty cool place. The name comes from the very large, very old baobab trees that dot the property. Very funky. We had a picnic lunch and then were shown our huts.
After a shower we headed to the bar area where I had a rock shandy (sprite, soda water and angostura bitters) and Bill had a beer.
There is a huge pool here but it is a little bit cloudy water but think I’ll go for a dip anyway.
We are here for one more day and will be taking a meer-cat safari tomorrow.
