Notes: For the first time we have run into traffic jams just getting into the pyramid grounds. Our guide told us about the pyramids as we inched our way toward the parking lot.The pyramids were pillaged in ancient times so the New Kingdom kings hid their tombs without pyramids.Why pyramid shape? 4 sides to reach to heaven. (Google it)Workers were not slaves, they did it willingly to do something for their gods. 21 years to finish 1st pyramid. Workers worked for only 3 months per year on the pyramids. They were in agriculture and the king paid them well for their work.
2630bc was when the pyramids were built.There are burial chambers located inside the pyramids. 5 relieving rooms are there to reduce the weight of the pyramid above.Base is square. Almost 1 km in circumference. 146m high. Originally. Outer casing missing so now only 137m.
