You can take a subway from downtown Buenos Aires to a neighbourhood called Ritiro where you can board a train that takes you to a town called Tigre about 30 kms from the city all for about 20 pesos. There is a big amusement park and other attraction there but were all closed during the week. This is fall and the kids are back at school so they open the park only on weekends. However there are still lots of boat tours out into the delta river system. For about 100 pesos each we took a water taxi tour for an hour. Then when we were looking for someplace to eat we came apon a man who convinced us to take a much ore expensive private tour in a zodiac. Our young guide, Tomi, took us to a restaurant in the delta where we had good food but extremely slow service. Then he toured us around the less populated islands to show us the flora and fauna. There had been very high flood waters on the weekend so there was a lot of debris in the water including water plants from Brazil and a dead bloated dog. Many of the water plants growing along the banks are just the same as at home only much bigger. Tomi saya there are no piranhas or alligators or monkeys or big snakes because it gets too cold in the winter. The temperatures often go just below zero making it impossible for those types of animals to survive. We had a really good day and beautiful weather. sunny 29
