Exploradores White Water RaftingRio Pacuare, Costa Rica What a fantastic day! We were picked up at our hotel at about 7:45 am and taken to the company headquarters where we ate rice, beans, scrambled eggs, toast, juice, fruit , yogurt and coffee. Ready for a strenuous day.Once all the tourists arrived, we stowed our packs and boarded a bus to the raft launching area about 18kms away. During the bus ride, Kenneth, one of the raft guides entertained us with the saftey information for rafting. He was very funny and made this dry, mandatory information a lot more memorable.Once at the launch We were given life jackets, helmets and a paddle and boarded a raft. The rafts carry a maximum of six people but ours only had four- ourselves and another couple from Canada. The water level in the river was very low so many of the Rapids had shallow boulders. The rafts of six often got stuck, but we only got stuck once. After about 2 hours on the river we stopped for lunch. The guides all had their assigned tasks for preparing the food. They peeled and cut cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, and pineapple. They set out refried beans, cold cuts, cheese, salsa, bread and tortillas. We made our own burritos or sandwiches and drank iced tea or water out of a hose. All in all a very good lunch. After lunch we were another hour or so on the river. We went through a canyon where we were able to jump out for a swim.Everyone was tired and happy by the time we landed back at the tour company headquarters. Our driver stopped for us to buy some food on the way back to our hotel casita.
