On the road, 12:25 PM
Weather:Cloudy
Temperature:30C
Notes: We didn’t realize it at first, but we have travelled this route before, albeit in the opposite direction. At one point we went by a food stall in a small town and I realized we had eaten there the last time through. Bill didn’t think so, but I looked it up on the map and sure enough, this had been our route. Once we left the mountains, of course, we ended up in the sweltering heat again. And the road is used for trucking so was not particularly interesting. We stopped for gas around noon.

Accommodations, 2:29 PM
Weather:Cloudy
Temperature:37C
Name:Hotel Santa Cruz
Cost:490
Notes: We had stayed at this hotel before when we took this route in the other direction in 2017. Of all the hotels on this trip it is the nicest. We have a large room with 2 double beds, quiet air conditioning, plenty of shelves and a closet for our stuff.
There has been a good attempt at decor in the room too. But the crowning glory of this place is its beautiful and welcome pool.
Bill likes that there is secure parking for the bike as well.
We spent the afternoon by the pool on lounge chairs with cushions!! I dozed in the shade and dipped in the pool when I felt too hot. What a treat!

Eats – Lunch/dinner, 2:41PM
Name:Restaurant Santa Cruz Cost:275mx
Notes: We knew there was a restaurant that had air-conditioning in this hotel because we have stayed here before. We went in and had Club sandwich, hamburger, pitcher of jamaica. While we were eating we made the decision to stay instead of travelling on more in the scortching heat. This is such a nice hotel it would be a shame to not take advantage of the opportunity.
