We searched in vain for a hotel in the two small villages before the border. Finally we stopped at a gas station on the highway and I managed to find an open WiFi network! Googling Jocotan I discovered a couple of hotel possibilities. I marked one and we set off to follow the gps. We’ll it took us right through the Sunday market! We drove under tarps draped across the street, dodging people, tuktuks, market stalls and dogs. However we finally found ourselves at the Hotel Paraiso. It did not live up to its name at all! No hot water, no Internet, no airconditioning, no food BUT it did have a large table fan and twin beds that looked clean. The price was right and it was the only hotel that we could find in town. (I refused to stay at the autohotel on the highway called The Love Nest)To lighten our load I have jettisoned a skirt, two tshirts, a dress and a few other odds and ends that were not necessities. The day pack is now located on my side bag instead of Bill’s to make our load more even. The owner of the hotel said he knew someone who could weld our bracket but that tomorrow is a holiday. We aren’t waiting in this town another day so hopefully we’ll have better luck in Honduras.
