We arrived just as the sky opened up and poured on us.This town is one that time forgot. Originally built by the Spanish in the 1500s, not much has changed here because a different town became the seat of the district and all the commerce moved there instead. There was no reason to pull down buildings to build new ones so the town is literally right out of the 1500s. Built around a huge cobblestone square, all the one storey buildings face toward it, then other cobblestone streets lead away from each corner, all with the same single storey houses. Everything was painted white and with the red clay tile roofs, the effect was very attractive.
