On the road from Ba??os to Balsapamba Today we went high up into the mountains. Unfortunately it was very cloudy and at times was raining. The temperature at 4200mts was about 10C and quite a wind picked up. There was a mountain to our left that actually had snow on it.It was hard to see because the clouds kept obscuring it. I tried to take a picture but I don’t think it showed up very well.We stopped at the top and had coffee and grilled cheese at an interesting restaurant. The lady also served us a hot fruit drink made from bananas and some other fruit that she said helped with the altitude. After the high mountains we went through a beautiful agricultural area with green fields spanning the valley and up the sides of the mountains. We were still quite high up so I think at one time this was all cloud forest. The indigenous people in the mountains are small. Both men and women wear fedoras. The women also wear brightly coloured shawls and either long skirts or pants. They are either carrying babies or some goods on their backs. The men seem to be standing around together and the women are separate. They all look like they are waiting for something- maybe a bus.For an hour or so we drove through really thick fog. It was hard to see the hairpin turns and many trucks did not have their lights on. We pulled into a small town called Balsabamba and spotted an Hospedaje.
