We had to ask for a different site because we couldn’t find a place to pitch a tent on the one they assigned. The tent spots were covered with wood chips to even out the ground. Not terribly effective. Our new tent is more suitable for warmer weather owing to the amount of mesh it has. I’m sure it is to keep the weight down but there is no way to make the tent more airtight, the exact opposite of our previous tent.To explain: We stopped at an REI camping store in Flagstaff to get a collapsible bowl. I showed Bill the tent I had my eye on and since it was my Birthday he bought it for me.I really didn’t want to throw away our present tent, so when the young man behind us in the checkout gave the clerk his membership number so we could get a discount, I offered him our tent. He accepted and it was a win win all round. But back to the camp ground and our new tent. We put the survival blanket between the tent and the fly hoping to keep it warmer. Still we spent the coldest night in our camping careers. There was frost on the tent when we got up and the bike thermometer read -3C!
