Obidos is a fascinating walled city dating from 715 when it was a Arab fortress. In the 12th century it was captured by King Alfonso Henriques and given to Queen Urraca. There was a lot of remodelling over the centuries and especially after the earthquake of 1755.The wall completely surrounds the city and even though it was raining, Bill and I walked around the whole top of the wall.We ate lunch here and Bill got quite a surprise when he ordered sardines because he got four of them and each must have been at least 8 inches long!I would have liked to stay longer here but we had a hotel booked in Nazare.
