Gulf Coast trip
Monday
8:29 AM

Name: Comedor locale
Location: Cerro Azul
Notes: We headed out to the main square to find some breakfast. The first restaurant was not open yet. The man said it would be 15 minutes before it opened. We decided to go up to the OXXO to get a coffee while we waited. Along the way we came across a little cocina with three table and a couple of ladies cooking breakfast. We sat down and ordered scrambled eggs & chilequiles.
Other diners were getting what looked like a breakfast sandwich. I asked our mesera what they were called and she told me they were boquitos or gorditas. They can be filled with a selection of chicken or eggs or pork- whatever you like. Our breakfast was Delicious! After we finished eating, one of the cooking ladies came over to ask about us. We chatted for a very pleasant 10 minutes. Mexicans are such lovely people!
